Cetus Support
Everything you need to mount, zero and run your Cetus thermal riflescope — Pixfra's entry into thermal, built on the PIPS 3.0 image engine. Four models on one platform (C225 / C335 / C635 / C650). Genuine Australian stock, full C.R. Kennedy warranty, serviced locally.
Getting Started
What's in the box?
Your Cetus ships with the thermal riflescope, a Picatinny rail mount, a replaceable 18650 battery, a USB-C cable, a lens cleaning cloth and a quick-start guide. Everything you need to mount it and start zeroing is in the box.
Which Cetus do I have — the four models
All four Cetus models share one platform — the body, controls, PIPS 3.0 engine and feature set are identical; they differ in sensor and lens. The C225 is a 256 sensor on a 25 mm lens; the C335 steps up to a 384 sensor, a keener 15 mK and a high-res 1600×1200 display on a 35 mm lens; the C635 is the 640 sensor on the same 35 mm lens for the widest view; and the C650 puts that 640 sensor behind a 50 mm lens for the longest reach.
How do I charge the battery, and how long does it last?
The Cetus runs a single replaceable 18650 lithium cell behind a quick-release cover — good for roughly 4.5–5 hours depending on model. It charges over USB-C. Because the cell pops out in seconds, carry charged spares and swap as needed for a full night out. Use genuine 18650 cells only.
Turning it on and the controls
Power up from the power button, and use the menu controls for a brief menu (the settings you change often) and a main menu (setup and system options). The exact button map for your model is on the unit and in your quick-start guide.
Mounting & Zeroing
Mounting the Cetus
The Cetus fits a Picatinny rail using the supplied mount. Seat it square and tighten evenly so it holds zero under recoil. Every Cetus carries a 1,000 g / 0.4 ms shock rating optimised for heavy calibres — it's built to take serious recoil, up to the likes of .375 H&H and 12-gauge, and hold zero.
Zeroing your Cetus
Zero the Cetus from its Zeroing menu: set your distance, fire a shot at the target, and walk the reticle onto your point of impact, then save. Confirm on paper at your working distance. You can store multiple zero profiles and manage them over the Pixfra Outdoor app.
Image Quality
What is PIPS 3.0?
PIPS 3.0 is Pixfra's AI-driven image-processing engine. It sharpens the thermal picture frame by frame — cutting noise, lifting contrast and holding a clean, identifiable edge on the animal across the zoom range, to sub-1-MOA precision. It's a big part of why a sensibly priced Cetus reads like a far more expensive scope.
Why does the image "click" and freeze? (FFC calibration)
That's FFC (flat-field calibration) re-baselining the sensor to keep the image clean and even — normal and expected. If an automatic calibration fires at a bad moment, you can trigger one manually; your quick-start guide shows the calibration control for your model.
Brightness, contrast and palettes
Set brightness, contrast, sharpness and your colour palette from the brief menu to suit the light and your eyes. Run the palette your eye reads fastest, and avoid running everything maxed out.
My image is soft or washed out — what do I check?
Set the focus for your target distance first, drop the digital zoom back down (digital zoom softens fine detail), trigger a manual FFC, then try a different palette and back the brightness off if it's washing out. Most "soft" images are focus or zoom, not a fault.
Recording & the App
Recording, and recoil-activated recording
The Cetus records video (with audio) and stills to 64 GB of onboard storage. Recoil-Activated Recording automatically captures the moments around your shot without you touching a button — great for reviewing shots or sharing them later.
Connecting to the Pixfra Outdoor app
Over Wi-Fi, the Pixfra Outdoor app lets you review and share footage and manage your zero profiles. Enable Wi-Fi on the scope, join its hotspot from your phone, then open the app and add the device.
Getting footage off
Connect the Cetus to a computer over USB-C, enable USB storage mode, and copy your stills and video off the drive. You can also review and transfer over the app.
Care & Troubleshooting
Updating firmware
Update over the Pixfra Outdoor app when prompted, or over USB-C by copying the firmware file across in USB storage mode and restarting. Start from a well-charged battery and don't interrupt an update.
Cleaning and waterproofing
The Cetus has a magnesium body sealed to IP67, so rain and dust are no problem. Wipe it with a soft dry cloth, or one barely dampened with a mild neutral detergent — never alcohol, benzene, thinners or abrasives, and keep your hands off the front lens.
Factory reset
A factory reset in the system menu returns the scope to default settings — you'll re-set your preferences and re-check your zero afterward, so only use it if a restart hasn't fixed odd behaviour.
Quick troubleshooting
| Problem | First checks |
|---|---|
| Won't turn on | Battery charged and seated; try USB-C power |
| Soft / washed-out image | Focus for distance; drop digital zoom; manual FFC; try another palette |
| Zero seems off after transport | Check mount seating and torque; confirm the correct zero profile is selected |
| No app / no recording | Wi-Fi on; correct network; app updated; battery above ~15% |
